MARQUEZ TO MISS FINAL MOTOGP ROUND

Factory Honda MotoGP rider Marc Marquez will miss the final round of the championship as well as the post-season test due to double vision.
The six-time MotoGP champion suffered a off-road motocross crash a fortnight ago, he was forced to miss the Algarve Grand Prix in Portugal due to a concussion.
However, resting at home since a medical examination last Tuesday, Marquez continued to feel unwell and began to suffer from vision issues, known as diplopia.
On Monday at the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, Marquez he was visited by the ophthalmologist Dr. Sanchez Dalmau who performed tests on the Spanish rider and detected a new episode of diplopia.
The doctor determined that Marquez would not be in a condition to ride this weekend or in the post season Valencia test a couple of weeks later.
“The examination carried out on Marc Marquez after the accident that occurred has confirmed that the rider has diplopia and has revealed a paralysis of the fourth right nerve with involvement of the right superior oblique muscle,” he explained.
This is a concern as Marquez suffered a near career ending crash in 2011 with the same injury when he crashed in practice for the Malaysian Moto2 race.
“A conservative treatment with periodic updates has been chosen to follow with the clinical evolution,” he said. “This fourth right nerve is the one that was already injured in 2011.”
Marquez expressed his devastation, but expressed that he will remain positive.
“These are hard moments, it seems that when it rains, it pours,” Marquez said.
“After visiting Dr. Sánchez Dalmau, a new episode of diplopia (double vision) was confirmed like 2011.
“We need patience but if I have learned one thing it’s to face adversity with positivity. Thanks for your support!”
The Repsol Honda team confirmed the news, the team did not state whether test and replacement rider Stefan Bradl would once again step in as his replacement, it is extremely likely he will.
“The Repsol Honda Team rider will not participate in the Valencia Grand Prix this coming weekend, nor in the IRTA Jerez Test scheduled for November 18 and 19,” the team said in a press release.
“After Marc Marquez underwent a medical examination at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona last Tuesday, in which he was evaluated after a fall while practicing off-road, the rider has been resting at his home in Cervera.
“During these days of rest, Marc has continued to feel unwell and has suffered from vision problems, which is why this Monday he was visited by the ophthalmologist Dr. Sanchez Dalmau at the Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, who examined him and performed the tests, which detected a new episode of diplopia.”
