BROCK TRIBUTE IN BATHURST 1000 LOGO

Brock tribute in new Bathurst 1000 logo

By Timothy Neal

The new Bathurst 1000 logo has been unveiled, with the Peter Brock Trophy front and centre.

In the first year of Repco’s naming-rights sponsorship, the fresh logo features the Supercars Championship logo on its left-side, the silver Peter Brock Trophy in the middle linked to silver Bathurst 1000 lettering, topped by the Repco logo.

With three months left in the countdown to Bathurst, Repco’s release will only add to growing anticipation for The Great Race.

Executive General Manager of Repco Australia Wayne Bryant explained the new logo.

“To signify a new era, both parties have collaborated to create a new event identity,” Bryant said.

“The new contemporary identity incorporates the Peter Brock Trophy to reference the rich history of the Great Race, with Brock winning a record nine Bathurst enduros.”

“Repco can’t wait to get to Mount Panorama for the 1000. We’ve been there many times before. We’ve supported two winning cars, and now it’s our chance to be the title sponsor for Australia’s Great Race and engage with fans that are motorsport enthusiast just like us.”

This year the Bathurst 1000 will take place from November 4-7.

While the dates have changed this year, the prize has not, drivers and teams will compete for the Peter Brock Trophy winner’s prize.

The trophy has been tied to Supercars’ flagship event since 2006, the year of Brock’s tragic passing.

Brock, known as “The King of the Mountain”, won the Mount Panorama race a record nine times.

The Peter Brock Trophy has become world renowned in its 15 years of existence, treasured as the pinnacle of Australian motor sport achievements.

The partner of the late Peter Brock, Beverly Brock, was proud of the new logo and its links to Brock’s legacy.

“It may be 15 years since he left us but as a family, we remain incredibly proud of all that Peter achieved, and have absolutely no doubt that he would be delighted to see Repco associated with the race that he won on nine occasions,” Brock said.

“Whoever gets to hold the Peter Brock Trophy after the chequered flag drops will carry his legacy forward knowing that they have achieved something absolutely remarkable and deserve their own place in our motor racing history.”

In addition to the logo reveal, the charity partner for the 2021 race has also been announced as LifeChanger.

LifeChanger is a not-for-profit that helps to address mental health and wellbeing challenges for young people, empowering them to live thriving, resilient lives.

The Melbourne organisation will be present at the Bathurst 1000, raising funds and awareness.

CEO and Founder of LifeChanger Scott Watters was looking forward to aligning with Australia’s Great Race.

“The LifeChanger Foundation is delighted and humbled to have been chosen as the charity partner of this year’s iconic Bathurst 1000,” Scott said.

“The LifeChanger Foundation looks forward to working alongside youth within the Bathurst region and is incredibly grateful for the community focus and support of Repco.”
