Hedge impressed over the course of the two days, the first participating in the Hampton Downs Academy test featuring among others Daniel Gaunt as a mentor, while the second was instigated by Toyota GAZOO Racing New Zealand where the 17-year-old was aided by Chris van der Drift.

The test in the TRS Tatuus FT-60 open-wheeler was a different experience for the youngster who has raced in a variety of series in both Australia and New Zealand.

The test days gave Hedge the oppurtunity to show his potential as he hopes to compete in the noted development category held across the New Zealand summer next season.

“It’s definitely a big change from what I’m used to with the lack of leg room and space around the car,” Hedge said. “I was on the pace, which was really good. All the engineers and driver coaches they had on the two days were really happy with my performance.

“It’s definitely no secret I’m trying to do it and I definitely enjoyed the last few days I’ve had in the car.”
