Swiss Moto3 rider Jason Dupasquier is in a serious condition following a three-bike accident in yesterday’s qualifying session at the Mugello Circuit in Italy.

The 19-year-old was riding in amongst a pack late in the session when he fell off his bike exiting Arrabbiata 2.

Tech 3 rider Ayumu Sasaki was right behind the Prustel GP rider when the crash occurred and was unable to avoid the fallen rider.

The Japanese rider struck Dupasquier, with the force of the impact throwing Sasaki himself off his bike. Gresini’s Jeremy Alcoba was also caught up in the incident.

Fortunately both Alcoba and Sasaki were able to walk away uninjured, however Dupasquier was treated for several minutes at the scene before being flown to the Careggi hospital in Florence.

No updates have been given on Dupasquier’s injuries, however MotoGP FIM medical officer Giancarlo de Filippo said that the rider was in a serious condition.

“The rider, number 50, Jason Dupasquier was involved in a very serious crash during the qualifying two for Moto3,” de Filippo said.

“The FIM medical intervention team in the vehicles arrived immediately on the site of the accident and after that he was transferred to the Careggi hospital in a hemodynamically stable way to the Careggi hospital in Florence and we will wait for updates from the hospital.

“At the moment we know that for sure he’s in a very serious condition and as I said we are waiting for updates from them (the hospital).”

Dupasquier currently sits 10th in the Moto3 standings, scoring in all five races this season, this includes a career best seventh at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez.

It is his second season in Moto3 having made his debut in 2020 with the Prustel GP squad.
