Australian Jack Miller has taken back to back wins after a dramatic flag-to-flag French Grand Prix at Le Mans.

The factory Ducati rider survived both the changing weather and two long laps penalties (for speeding in pitlane) to take his second win in as many races.

The race started out in dry conditions, with Miller launching off the front row getting past the factory Yamaha’s the lead the opening lap.

As the rain started to fall, Miller swapped the lead with both Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales as the riders juggled the changing conditions.

At the end of Lap 4, the rain dumped down with all riders diving to the pits to swap bikes.

Honda’s Marc Marquez surged into the lead with an efficient change over of bikes, while both of the factory Ducati’s were penalised for speeding in the pitlane.

The conditions continued to deteriorate and riders tumbled. Marquez crashed twice, the first from the lead of the race on Lap 12.

Suzuki’s Alex Rins was another to have multiple falls, his first after leaving the pitlane for his bike swap.

Meanwhile, Miller completed his long lap penalties on successive laps before chasing down Yamha’s Quartararo to reclaim the lead on Lap 12.

Ducati’s proved strong in the conditions. Johann Zarco on the satellite Pramac Racing entry made his way forward to take second place off Quartararo on Lap 22 as the track dried out.

Quartararo would hold on to the final place on the podium, which would be enough for the Frenchman to reclaim the championship lead over Bagnaia by a single point.

Bagnaia on the second of the factory Ducati’s ended the day fourth ahead of Danilo Petrucci (Tech 3 KTM), Alex Marquez (LCR Honda).

Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda), Pol Espargari (Repsol Honda), Iker Lecuona (Tech 3 KTM) and Maverick Vinales (Monster Yamaha) rounded out the top ten.

Millers second win has rocketed the Australian up to fourth in the MotoGP Championship standings.
