The National Sports Sedan Series has signed Precision International as its naming rights partner for the next three-years.

The announcement comes as Sports Sedans embarks on a new era with many new builds being completed, to be debuted throughout this season.

Precision International is a Melbourne-based importer and wholesaler of engine components founded by Bill Nitschke in 1970.

“I love the Sports Sedans, I always have,” said Nitschke.

“It’s such a strong class, I remember when Bob Jane and Allan Moffat were in Sports Sedans at Calder and other great tracks around the country, they were good days and they put on great racing.

“We have been around for over 50 years and over that time our focus has been on supplying the trade and wholesale side of the automotive industry.

“With our new website about to go live, we are able to go direct to the customers and also attract the racers to purchase our performance products directly from us.

“We are excited to be showcasing our Precision International name as well as our premium brands via the Sports Sedan program.”

Leading competitor Daniel Tamasi is excited by not only the new partnership, but the expectation of new entries to the field.

“There’s plenty of new cars being built,” said Tamasi.

“There’s an RX-7 in Tasmania, one in New South Wales, a new Mazda being built by the Ingram Brothers looks pretty good, plus a few more that I’ve probably forgotten about.”

The series begins at Wakefield Park on May 21-23 combined with state competitors, before joining the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at Morgan Park in June for one of two times in the season.

At Sydney Motorsport Park in September the Australian Motor Racing Series plays host to the National Sports Sedan Series, before it returns to the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at The Bend Motorsport Park in October.

The final round will be run together with the prestigious 50k Plate race as part of Island Magic meeting at Phillip Island.

“This will be a premium event to end the year,” said Tamasi.

“The Tamasis have won the last three 50k Plates, so bring it on!

All Sports Sedan entries will run on Kumho tyres this season, with early testing displaying promise according to Tomasi, who stated that the team were ‘very pleased with them’.

Tamasi himself is working on completing the rebuild of his Nissan 300ZX, previously owned by multiple Sports Sedan champion Kerry Bailey. The team aims to take part in selected rounds of this year’s series.
