After failing to hold an event in 2020, Australia’s second-tier will begin at Phillip Island with the February date still to be confirmed before heading to Bathurst as support to the 6 Hour production car race on the Easter long weekend.
A month later, Sydney Motorsport Park hosts Round 3, then the series will make its long-awaited return to Morgan Park.
The penultimate round will be held at Melbourne’s Sandown International Raceway with The Bend Motorsport Park holding the grand finale in a joint event combined with the fifth round of the Australian Rally Championship.
Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships director Michael Smith is excited by the return of national level racing after failing to get the 2020 season underway.
“We all know that 2020 hasn’t allowed as much racing as we would have liked, particularly at the national level,” Smith explained.
“With restrictions starting to ease around the country, the prospect of our ‘Return To Race’ is very real and the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships calendar can be released with some certainty.
“The exact make up of each event is still to be confirmed, but we’re working closely with a range of category managers to deliver a really exciting season of national motorsport.”
Smith thanked circuit and category managers for helping to formulate next year’s calendar.
“Everyone is itching to get going again and the support for the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships events in 2021 has been reassuring to us,” Smith added.
“I’d also like to thank our event sponsors, including Shannons Insurance, Morris Finance, Burson Auto Parts and Michelin. All of our loyal partners make these events possible, so we are very grateful for the support.”
The Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships will again host the Porsche Sprint Challenge, Australian GT and Endurance Championships, S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship, TCR Australia, Touring Car Masters, National Trans Am Series, Australian Prototype Series, Radical Australia, Australian Production Car Series and many more.
Tickets for these events will be available exclusively through the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships website.
