Team owner Garry Rogers has confirmed that his team will not participate in next year’s Supercars Championship.

Rogers told his workforce and fans via video posted on social media that 2019 will be its last season in Supercars after it debuted in 1996. Elaborating further, Rogers stated he asked for an extension from Supercars so his team could complete preparation to enable the team to continue, but it was refused.

“We won’t be renewing our franchises,” said Rogers emotionally. “I went to Supercars to request an extension to perhaps put a business plan together where we would stay in the Supercars business, but they rejected that.”

“The Supercars business to me, I do it because I love doing it, it’s not a big financial gainer of any kind. We make some money some years, we lose some money some years, but I enjoy it and I enjoy it because of the people I do it with.”

Rogers signalled the high costs associated with the category has brought an end to its program.

“Supercars without great success has tried to curtail the costs, they have not done a good job of that and certainly we as a team cannot afford to keep doing the way the rules are currently structured,” Rogers explained.
