Daniel Ricciardo had left the Australian Grand Prix feeling “flat” after an exhausting week of commitments.

The Australian was in demand in the lead up to his home event, with a packed media and promotional schedule including a steer of a Nissan Supercar.

After the weekend, Ricciardo vowed he would take a different approach to the build-up to the Australian Grand Prix in 2020.

“I’m flat. I fell like it’s hard to get things going well here,” said Ricciardo after the Grand Prix.

“Just drained. Trying to please everyone this week and I don’t look after myself so we’ll change it for next year.”

“Today I feel that it was pretty unlucky, I just put two wheels in and the next thing there’s a massive gutter there – gutter ditch thing – which I don’t feel is on many other places.”

“It is what it is. It’s tough, I feel like this week is a tough one because we were always pushing up hill and you can never do enough, but I feel we do more than enough.”

“I don’t know. I don’t want to blame that but I certainly didn’t… I don’t know, I feel flat for more reason that one.”

Ricciardo failed to finish his first race as a Renault driver after losing his front wing in an unfortunate incident at the start of the race while trying to overtake Racing Point’s Sergio Perez.

“I also feel that that was pretty unlucky,” Ricciardo continued.

“I just put two wheels in and next minute there is a massive gutter there, or ditch, which I don’t feel is on many other places.”

“It is what it is, but yeah it’s tough.”

Ricciardo will hope to have better luck at the next Grand Prix in Bahrain in two weeks.
