Kimi Raikkonen has set the pace in practice ahead of this weekends Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay street circuit.

The Ferrari driver topped FP2 with a time of 1m38.699s, bettering the time of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) by just 0.011s to claim Friday’s fastest time under the city lights of Singapore.

Earlier in the day, Australian Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest time in FP1 in what was a Red Bull domination of the daylight session. Max Verstappen set the second fastest time ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

Unfortunately for Vettel, he didn’t set a representative time in the second practice session after making glancing contact with the wall at the penultimate corner. The initial contact appeared to be the rear wheel just grazing the wall, but a fluid leak from under his Ferrari suggested further issues and he played no further part in the session ending the session ninth on the timesheets.

He wasn’t the only driver to have issues. Recently signed 2019 Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc clipped the wall in at the Anderson Bridge in FP1, plucking the front right wheel off his Sauber. While several other drivers had harmless spins.

One more practice session remains before qualifying for the Singapore Grand Prix commences at 11pm AEST.
