Citroen has announced that Mads Ostberg will take over Kris Meeke’s seat in it’s World Rally Championship line-up for the remainder of the 2018 season.
Ostberg re-joined Citroen this year, after a previous stint in 2014 and ’15, on a three-event deal which concluded at the previous round in Italy.
The Norwegian driver will now drive the second Citroen C3, alongside Craig Breen, in Finland, Germany, Turkey, Great Britain and Australia. While he may step aside to allow Sebastien Loeb to compete in his final scheduled appearance at Rally Catalunya in October.
“It was really great to be back with the team for these first three rallies, having previously worked together a few years ago now,” Østberg told the championship’s official website.
“I’m honoured by the trust that the brand and Pierre (Budar, team principal) have placed in me.
“I’ll be giving everything I can to pay them back in the best possible way at the next few rallies, especially as I’m starting to become familiar with the C3 WRC now and Rally Finland is coming up soon, my favourite weekend of the season.
“I’m convinced that we have all the qualities required to do well on these five additional appearances.”
