One of Supercars’ most influential sponsors will pull out of the category if Holden’s V6 turbo engines becomes mandatory.

The company’s Chief Executive has told Auto Action that Commodore V6s were “like rental cars” and that if the team he backs was required to run the engines from 2019, his company would exit the sport.

“I do not want to see those engines in Supercars,” he told AA in Adelaide last weekend.

“We’re out. We are not going to support a series that does not do its best for the fans.”

The comments come at a time when the V6 development program is already running behind its original schedule, with no confirmation when a third Triple Eight Commodore ZB will appear in its planned ‘Wildcard’ appearances.

Thursday’s edition of AA names the team and presents full detail on why he thinks a V6 turbocharged Supercars is a bad idea.
