Mercedes AMG Petronas has taken to Silverstone to reveal its 2018 Formula 1 challenger, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+.

The latest car which the team claim is the “most advanced machine ever conceived by Mercedes” completed 100km as part of filming/shakedown day before official testing commences in Barcelona next week.

Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were on hand for the event and took turns behind the wheel of the new car during the day.

Valtteri Bottas, in his second year with the team, was the first to take the new Mercedes-AMG F1 W09 EQ Power+ out on track in the morning.

2017 Formula Champion Lewis Hamilton got the chance to sample the new car later in the afternoon.

The Mercedes squad are hoping that the W09 will continue its streak that has seen the Brackley based team claim the last four constructors’ and drivers’ world titles. Although it is expected to face even stiffer competition from Ferrari, Red Bull and the newly Renault powered McLaren.

The latest Mercedes will join the rest of the new Formula 1 cars at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain as part of the opening pre-season test on Monday.
