OSCAR PIASTRI EARNS FORMULA RENAULT ROOKIE TEST

Young Australian driver Oscar Piastri has earned an invite to attend the official Formula Renault 2.0 Rookie Test in Barcelona, Spain next week.

Piastri was one of a number of young drivers invited to attend the test on October 31st by Renault Sport. Earning complimentary entry, tyres and team placement as part of the arrangement.

“It’s a great honour to get the official invite from Renault Sport for the Rookie Test.” said Piastri.

“I’ve tested at Barcelona before in the F4 car, it’s a great track and I’m really looking forward to running the Renault car there.

“The track should be really gripped up after the Eurocup race on the weekend so if the weather is clear I think we’ll see some fast lap times”

The 16 year old Aussie earned the drive of the back of stellar debut season in the 2017 British F4 Championship, finishing second in the standings with 6 wins, 15 podiums, the Joe Tandy Memorial trophy and the Driver’s Choice award.

He then stepped into the FR2.0 NEC series the following week at Hockenheim to achieve two top 10 finishes on debut.

“I’ve been working hard in the simulator and on my strength and fitness since Hockenheim earlier this month. Also, I’ve spent a week back home in Australia catching up with family and friends over the school break so I feel recharged and relaxed.”

Piastri will reunited with the Arden Motorsport for the Barcelona test.
