The Victorian Historic Racing Register will celebrate “Twenty Six Years of Thunder” at November’s Historic Sandown race meeting.

Widely regarded as one of Australia’s most important Historic race meetings, Historic Sandown attracts competitors from all corners of Australia for the November 10-12 event.

Touring car fans will be in for a real treat, with many of the great ‘tin top’ cars from yesteryear will be on hand to rekindle memories of some to the titanic battles seen at Sandown over the years.

The meeting has also attracted a strong interest from the smaller, but very nimble Formula Fords. This category is enjoying a worldwide revival, having been the breading ground for mant top Grand Prix drivers. A fantastic field of these great little open wheelers feature on the program.

Formula 5000 will also be represented with these thundering 5-litre open wheelers from the 70’s Tasman Series also scheduled to take to the track during Historic Sandown.

Adding to the spectacle will be the display of over 300 desirable vehicles from a variety of car clubs. You’ll be able to see these cars and talk to their proud owners with two seperate displays. One at the concourse alongside the main grandstand and the other over at Red Hill on the Dandenong Road end of the circuit.

The event will feature on-track action from 13 different Historic categories covering motorsport history from the 1920s through to the ’80s during the three-day weekend of motorsport action. Many of the ‘greats’ of yesteryear will also be on hand, with an opportunity and meet these famous drivers and grab an autograph!

Gates open at 8am, with free entry on Friday, November 10th. Tickets for adults will be $35 on Saturday 11th, and $40 on Sunday 12th. Weekend passes will also be available for $70. Children under 15 and accompanied by an adult will be admitted free.
