TIM SLADE WINS WORLD TIME ATTACK CHALLENGE
For the second year in a row Tim Slade has won the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge at Sydney Motorsport Park today.
Slade pushed the MCA Hammerhead Nissan Silvia S13 around in a stunning 1 minute 20. 971 seconds which was under the Formula Holden lap record of Tim Leahy.
Second overall and in the Pro Class, was Bart Mawer in the Porsche 968 despite who pul out before the final Shootout after a driveline failure. He finished half a second behind Slade and had to wait with bated breath as Tomohiko Under Suzuki (Silvia S15) put in his best in the final run but fell short by three tenths.
Fourth fastest, first in Pro Am, and the fastest front-wheel-drive was Rob Nguyen and his Honda CRX doing a best of 1m26.276s. Second fastest in that class was the Canadian-based William Au-Yeung after Finland’s Sami Sivonen (Audi R8) had been quicker earlier.
In the Open Class Nathan Morcom (EVO 9) had been at the top until Adam Casmiri (Honda Civic) went faster. Third there was Matt Longhurst (Nissan GTR).
In Clubsprint nobody went better in the Superlap where the top five went out together. But Jordan Cox (EVO 9) had such a strong advantage that he would not be touched. Benny Tran (Honda S2000) finished second and Ben Arnold (GTR) was third.
