Lewis Hamilton has won the Canadian Grand Prix for the sixth time with a dominant performance again in Montreal.

Unchallenged, the Mercedes driver lead the race from start to finish. Behind his team mate Valtteri Bottas held off a mid race challenge for Aussie Daniel Riccardo to finish second. Riccardo, settling into third for the chequered flag.

The race started off in dramatic fashion. Contact between Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel at the start saw Vettel stopping early to replace the front wing of his Ferrari. He would recover to finish the race fourth.

Further into the opening lap Carlos Sainz Jr. and Romain Grosjean came together. The contact spun Sainz Jr. who then collected Felipe Massa and both cars crashed out of the race. Putting the race under the control of the safety car to clean up the mess.

Verstappen would then have his own issue with his Red Bull a few laps later. Stopping on track and retiring from the race, which resulted in the use of the Virtual Safety Car.

The battle for fifth and sixth between Force India team mates Sergio Perez and Estaban Ocon came down to the line. Benefiting from Ferrari’s issues earlier in the race. Ocon sat in podium contention prior to his pitstop, which put him back behind Perez. The two crossed the finish line almost side by side as the squabbled over fifth place.
