KIMI RAIKKONEN FASTEST AS RED BULL STRUCK TROUBLE IN CANADA

Kimi Raikkonen has set the pace in the opening day of the Canadian Grand Prix with a 1:12.935 at the end of FP2.

The Ferrari driver was the only person to drop into the 12’s during the day, narrowly eclipsing the time of FP1 pace setter Lewis Hamilton.

The Ferrari and Mercedes battle continued down the order with Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas setting the third and fourth fastest times of the day.

It was far from all good news for Red Bull however. Both Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen struck issues during FP2. A suspected engine failure stopped Ricciardo’s progress after only 8 laps. While Verstappen brought out the red flags stopping on track with just 20 minutes left in the session.

McLaren’s Fernando Alonso bounced back from a hydraulic issues that stopped him in FP1 to end the day with seventh fastest time.
