Both the Australian Trans-Am Series and the Trans-Am 2 (TA2) Racing Series were on track at Queensland Raceway over the weekend as part of the Ipswich Festival of Cars.

In the Australian Trans-Am Series, a faultless performance by Shannon O’Brien saw him extend his lead in the championship by clean sweeping all four races of the second round.

O’Brien set the pace all weekend in his Pontiac Firebird. Behind, the battle for the remaining podium places saw Cam Wilson, John English, Ian Palmer, Ian Woodward, Anthony Tenkate share the honours throughout the four races.

While in TA2, Russell Wright won a the second round the series with a win and three podium finishes.

The first race it was thrilling contest between the frontrunners. Wright would get the upper hand over Craig Harris who lead the race briefly after starting third.

Harris then got the win in the second race of the weekend leading home Wright and Peter Robinson after an enthralling battle for the lead.

Anthony Tenkate benefitted from the reverse grid third race on Sunday morning to take the win over Wright who charged his way through the field. Craig Allan, held off a challenge by Robinson to hold on to third.

Robinson then took his turn at the top of the podium after winning the final race of the weekend. Leading home Tenkate and Wright.

Both the Australian Trans-Am Series and the Trans-Am 2 Australia return to Queensland Raceway on June 17 and 18 for the 2 Days of Thunder.
