The Bend ready for big 2023

The Bend Motorsport Park is ready for a huge 2023 which shapes up as it’s biggest ever.

The fifth calendar year since the venue opened in 2018 has a bit of everything from Lamborghini’s, Superbikes and drag racing.

Once again fans can look forward to the Supercars making its annual trip to the country South Australian venue in August when Gen 3 comes to town.

The SA Prototype and Motorsport Series headline the events listed from February through to May.

The Bend will promote and operate the inception of the SA Prototype Series, which will be held across six rounds on variations of The Bend and sister circuit Mallala. The launch of this series has been driven by the passionate local drivers as an additional platform to compete outside of the Australian Prototype Series.

In June the highlight of the year arrives with the arrival of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series, which brings some world-class racing to the world-class circuit.

The big meeting will take place on June 9-11 and will be supported by the SA Motorsport Series.

August 18-20 is the date for round eight of the 2023 Supercars Championship season where Shane van Gisbergen hopes for a repeat performance of his 2022 clean sweep of The Bend.

A Harley Davidson 120 Year Hog Fest is the only event currently listed in September, but October is much busier and all about drag racing.

The grand opening of the new multi-million dollar Dragway will occur at a to be confirmed date before October 28 when the Garrett Adelaide Jamboree Drag Racing event is held.

All eyes will be on the strip less than a month later when the 400Thunder Aeroflow Drag Racing Series comes to town on November 18-19.

The venue will also host major burnout competitions, tractor pulling and sand drags.

But in between all the drag racing, The Bend Classic will be held on October 27-29.

Finally rounding out the year in big way will be the ASBK Grand Finale in December.

Outside of events The Bend hopes to build on a busy 2022 which saw 302 days of on-track activity across track hire and the Bend Driver Experience Program. The track has also continued to further its relationships with manufacturers and brands having hosted Michelin, Bentley, Audi, Ferrari, BMW and Porsche.

“The Bend continues to grow its event calendar and with the introduction of The Bend Dragway this will continue to be a destination circuit for local, interstate and international visitors,” said The Bend Motorsport Park chief executive officer Alistair MacDonald.
