Doohan fastest in F2 testing

By Timothy Neal

Following on from his postseason F1 testing at Yas Marina, Jack Doohan has topped the time sheets for the F2 testing in his #3 Virtuosi.

It was a busy week for Doohan, and although his final race for the year ended in another unfortunate DNF, he followed up in the F1 testing by placing P11 in the 2022 Alpine machine, completing 111 laps with a best time of 1:26.297.

He’s now backed it up with two days of testing for Virtuosi where he’ll go around for a second full F2 season in 2023.

Doohan topped the morning session on day 2 with a flying 1:35.990 after 44 laps, setting a time faster than Ayumu Iwasa’s pole lap from the F2 finale.

He managed a P2 on the Day 1 morning session, but remained the only driver throughout the two days of testing to crack the 36s mark.

In both afternoon sessions over the two days Doohan went out with a lighter workload, finishing in the mid-table both times.
