STACKED TURTLE WAX TRANS AM FIELD REVS UP FOR QUEENSLAND RACEWAY

The Queensland Raceway will play host to what could be a record starting grid for the Turtle Wax Trans Am series this weekend.
29 entries will hopefully take to the grid at ‘the paperclip,’ which will beat the current record of 28 starters that raced at the SMP in May of last year.
The high powered V8 field boasts a talented lineup, including Supercars Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki, fresh off a Race 3 podium from The Bend SuperSprint.
As publicised, Kotecki will drive Tim Shaw’s Chevrolet Camaro, and should provide a strong challenge for pace setters Owen Kelly and Nathan Herne, split by six points on top of the table.
Two exciting newcomers will make their debuts this weekend in Super2 racer Jack Sipp, and Aussie Racing cars speedster Tom Hayman.
Tim Brook missed out in his Mustang at the last Trans Am meeting in May at the SMP, but he sits just 17 points behind Herne in third place, and will be hoping to claw back some points after a consistent year.
Brett Holdsworth sits fourth in his first full campaign, 28 points in the standings behind Brook after nabbing a Podium third last time out.
A talented list of young guns in Eden Thornburrow, Lochie Dalton, Cody Burcher and Nic Carroll, will make it a day of close racing in Ipswich, making it hard to predict the winners.
Expect the experienced drivers of Jon McCorkindale, Ben Grice and Elliot Barbour to make life hard on the youngsters, with McCorkindale in a good position to shoot up the points table from Seventh place.
The SpeedSeries offers a solid seven categories on track over the weekend, with 12 hours of live and ad-free coverage available on Stan Sports over the Saturday and Sunday, from 11am-5pm.
