WAU ANNOUNCE BATHURST 1000 PAIRINGS

By Timothy Neal

Defending winners, Walkinshaw Andretti United, have confirmed its pairings for October’s Bathurst 1000.

Chaz Mostert (last year’s winner) will race with veteran Kiwi Fabian Coulthard, who has had 471 Supercars starts to date, with 18 Bathurst 1000 starts, finishing third in 2017.

Long-time WAU co-driver and six time Bathurst 1000 podium getter, Warren Luff, will be paired with Nick Percat.

Given Mostert’s recent Bathurst form, and the fact that he’s now a two-time winner, the pairing of he and Coulthard will be among the favourites to take out this year’s event.

“I’m really excited to be teaming up with Chaz in the #25 this year, we are working really well together,” said Coulthard.

“Being close to the team inside the garage has been awesome, I’ve felt right at home from the start, and it’s been creating spending time at the track and seeing how everyone works operationally, it all helps with just the one enduro this season.”

Luff was excited to be paired with Percat, with the pair going in with 38 starts between them.

“It’s fantastic to be alongside Nick this year in the #2, it’s been great working with him so far this year, and I think we are very similar in terms of what we would like out of the car,” Luff commented.

“I’ve spent a lot of time inside the garage this year, which has been great, and something that hasn’t been easy to do over the last few years.”

The Bathurst 1000 will run from the 6-9 of October, and Mostert and Percat resume their Supercars duties at the SuperSprint this weekend, celebrating WAUs’ 400th round of competition.
