The National Trans Am Series is expecting the field to push 30 cars for the season resumption at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP).

Scheduled as a Supercars Championship support for the final Sydney Supercars event, Trans Am will hold its fifth round from November 19-21.

Category Manager Liam Curkpatrick was looking forward to the return of the series.

“It’s exciting to have the National Trans Am Series restart after the frustrations of border closures,” Curkpatrick said.

“Our competitors have been very eager to get back out on track, and as soon as we were able to offer this opportunity at Sydney Motorsport Park, there were no complaints.

“To be back racing again will be exciting. We can’t wait for National Trans Am to resume ahead of what promises to be a tight conclusion to the title at Bathurst.”

The inaugural series contested by Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challengers will then head to Mount Panorama for its finale, a marquee Trans Am 100 race as part of the six-day Bathurst 1000 event from November 30 – December 5.

The category has already graced SMP earlier in the year, completing three races at the circuit as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships, with Owen Kelly, Nathan Herne and Aaron Seton splitting the victories.

Ford Mustang driver Seton currently leads the series by four points over Dodge driver Herne and a trio of Mustangs in Edan Thornburrow, Tim Brook and Hugh McAlister.

For the upcoming SMP round, National Trans Am will maintain its usual format, comprising of practice and qualifying sessions before three 11-lap races over the three-day meeting.
