TA2 NUMBERS UP WITH NEW RECRUITS

TA2 numbers up with new recruits

By Garry O'Brien

Amongst the latest to step into the TA2 category will be a front running state category competitors from NSW and SA in Josh Haynes and Brock Boley.

Josh Haynes has been a race winner in the MRF Tyres APRA Championship for Nissan Pulsars. Based out of Narellan in NSW, his team is planning to contest the TA2 series in 2022 and some rounds of the National Trans Am Series.

The team purchased the Camaro previously raced by Zach Loscialpo and last competed in the Australian Motor Racing Series at Sydney Motorsport Park in early March. Loscialpo has already brought a new car.

Haynes is endeavouring to have his first hit out in the Camaro over the weekend of October 23-24 and anticipates a lot to learn in the transition from low horsepower front wheel drive to the big horsepower rear wheel and left hand drive machine.

Numbers continue to escalate in West Australia where three cars raced last weekend. Saloon Car Holden Commodore VT driver Brock Boley joined Sports Sedan Chev Camaro Trans Am pilot Ron Moller and former Saloon Car steerer Brett Niall in Camaros in the Sport Sedan/Sports Car races.

Boley’s team brought the ex-George Elliott Camaro off Moller who has since purchased a new Camaro. Boley is also looking to add a second car with a brand new Howe Engineering machine already on its way. Niall along with his father Malcolm previously raced AU Falcons in Saloon Cars and has since been at the wheel of a MARC Focus V8.

Boley wants to compete with National Trans Am Series once the borders are opened and is also keen to see the category stand on its own in WA. There are two Challengers in the state that haven’t race there yet, and Boley expects there will be around a dozen by the middle of next year.
