Nico Hulkenberg and Logan Sargeant headline the names lining up for an IndyCar test at Barber Motorsports Park next week.

Hulkenberg is the latest ex-Formula 1 driver to dabble in the series. After stints at Williams, Force India, Sauber, Renault and Racing Point, the German will get behind the wheel of an Arrow McLaren SP-Chevrolet for the first time.

While Sargeant will drive an AJ Foyt Racing-Chevrolet after finishing seventh in the 2021 Formula 3 season for Charouz Racing System.

Overall, at least six drivers will be taking part in the driver evaluation/rookie test on October 25, steering cars run by Ed Carpenter Racing, Dale Coyne Racing and Andretti Autosport.

Hulkenberg has filled the role of Aston Martin F1’s test and reserve driver in 2021, having last raced in F1 full-time in 2019.

The German driver conceded last month that would not receive an F1 seat for next year.

Despite confirming the test next week, there has been no official word on whether the 34-year-old could secure an Arrow McLaren SP seat for the 2022 IndyCar Series season.

Sargeant has now spent three years in F3, finishing third last year and 19th in his debut season.

He has three race wins in total in the category, including a drought-breaking victory at Sochi Autodrom last month.

The 20-year-old American has also had success as a podium finisher in the Macau Grand Prix, as well as finishing third in the British Formula 4 Championship.

AJ Foyt Racing has yet to decide on its driver line-up for the 2022 season.
