Motorsport Australia has released a new and extended version of the Australian Rally Championship Sporting and Technical Regulations that is set to apply from 2022-2024.

The new regulation set provides competitors and teams with certainty for the next three seasons, allowing them to build and prepare cars to contend in the overall Championship and class Cups.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith was positive about the post COVID era of rallying.

“The RSEA Safety Motorsport Australia Rally Championship is enjoying a very successful period, despite the lack of events that have been able to run in 2021,” Smith said.

“The interest in the Championship is high, there are lots of commercial partners eager to get involved or continue their association with us, and the coverage of the Championship is the most broad and accessible it has been in some time.

“Motorsport Australia made a deliberate decision to release these regulations for a three year period, allowing competitors to prepare and build their cars for the long run, and not have to worry about significant changes being made year-on-year.

“Of course, if there are new cars or new technology that become relevant to the Championship in the coming years, we will certainly be able to adapt or make any small changes to these regulations where needed.”

Canberra brothers Harry and Lewis Bates lead the ARC Drivers’ Championship after two rounds, sitting on 220 and 165 points respectively.

The next and final round of the 2021 Motorsport Australia Rally Championship event will coincide with the Kosciuszko Automotive Monaro Stages Rally, held in New South Wales on December 11.

Both the Adelaide Hills and Coffs Coast rounds were cancelled due to COVID-19 lockdowns and border restrictions.

An extended bumper seven-round 2022 calendar has already been announced, the National Capital Rally commencing the season in late March.
