SMP 2 SCHEDULE AND SUPPORTS REVEALED

By Dan McCarthy

The schedule for the second Sydney Motorsport Park round has been locked in, with a couple of local support categories supporting the Supercars Championship.

The November 6-7 weekend will see two Supercars races held under lights on a single weekend for the first time since 2011.

On both Saturday and Sunday the Supercars racing will take place under lights with races starting at 7.45pm and 7.30pm respectively. The other Sunday encounter commences at 4.20pm AEDT.

The event will be just the fourth time that Supercars has held dual night races over a weekend having previously done it at Calder Park in 1997 and the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi in 2010 and 2011.

The support categories for the weekend is the NSW Production Touring cars and the NSW Formula Ford Championship.

Formula Ford has been in Australia for over 50 years, helping current drivers including Jamie Whincup, Nick Percat, Will Davison, David Reynolds, Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters to where they are today.

There are many more former drivers and legends of the sport including Larry Perkins and Tomas Mezera.

In fact every Supercars championship winner since 2003 has raced Formula Ford at some point in their career.

The NSW Production Touring Cars Championship combines production car categories, Street Sedans and Saloon Cars.

Supercars will begin the round with two 30-minute practice sessions on Saturday followed by a knockout qualifying session to the night race.

On Sunday there will be two qualifying sessions before two 125km SuperSprint affairs to conclude the event.

The event will be broadcast exclusively live on Fox Sports and streamed live on Kayo. The Seven Network will showcase highlights of the event.

Ticketing information will be released early next week, while corporate tickets now available.
