NEW CARUSO LIVERY, MURPHY WILDCARD FOR ESERIES

By Timothy Neal

Supercars Eseries Pro entrant Jordan Caruso will carry a new LifeChanger Foundation livery for Round 2 of the 2021 competition.

The previously Repco adorned car will sport a yellow, black, and white LifeChanger colour scheme to support the foundation in its aims to improve the wellbeing of young Australians.

The LifeChanger Foundation programs are designed to build self-esteem, self-worth and increase positive self-identity, and resilience in youth.

Caruso finished 20th in Round 1 at the Red Bull Ring and is looking to reset his mindset for Race 2 in his LifeChanger #12 Repco Racing Ford Mustang.

“We were running quite well at the Red Bull Ring, but the race didn’t go our way,” Caruso said.

“For Long Beach, I’m treating it like the first round again. I have a new livery for LifeChanger, which is great, and I’m just going to try and get back up the front and get more points on the board.”

LifeChanger will extend their involvement in the Supercars scene later this year at the Supercars Championship Bathurst 1000, raising funds and awareness for its causes on the ground at Mount Panorama.

CEO and Founder of LifeChanger Foundation Scott Watters was delighted to have his foundation represent in the Long Beach Eseries round.

“The Eseries is another really exciting opportunity for LifeChanger to be involved with Repco and raise awareness of the work LifeChanger is doing with families and young people in Australia and New Zealand,” Watters said.

“We love the Eseries. We think it’s an exciting virtual event, and we are thrilled to be a small part of the Eseries and what Repco is bringing forward.”

In other ESeries news, four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Greg Murphy will race as a wildcard for Auckland Unlimited’s Team Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland in Round 2.

Born in Hastings, Murphy will represent his home nation in the Battle of Jacks Ridge inspired #51 Holden Commodore to promote New Zealand’s premier rally event.

Murphy is not taking his appearance too seriously, looking to enjoy the sim racing after a cameo appearance in the celebrity ESeries race last year.

“I’m a bit worried about my Eseries debut in the All Stars grid,” Murphy laughed.

“Last year’s celebrity race was great, I really enjoyed it, but didn’t it get competitive in a hurry?

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s going to be difficult to step in a drive a virtual Supercar, but I’m hoping the oval will be a little bit easier.

“Honestly, I’m expecting to get flogged, that’s about it. I think maybe a top-24 result might even not be achievable!”

Murphy drove full-time in Supercars from 1997 to 2012, twice finishing runner-up in the championship.

The 49-year-old is locked in as Erebus Motorsport’s wildcard for the 2021 Bathurst 1000, looking to add to his four triumphs alongside countryman Richie Stanaway.

Stanaway won Round 1 of the ESeries ‘All Stars’ competition in Bradbury-esque style, as several frontrunners crashed out in the final laps at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The All Stars lineup will also be refreshed by the inclusion of Super2 Series driver Tyler Everingham, who take over the #18 Shannons Racing Mustang used by Matt Chahda in the opening round.

Round 2 sees the All Stars race at a virtual Pocono Raceway, while the pro gamers head to California.

Racing will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, 7Plus from 7:30pm AEST.
