Round 4 of the Victorian Circuit Racing Championship scheduled to take place at Sandown International Raceway has been cancelled.

The race meeting was originally set to take place from July 24-25 but was postponed due to the limit of mass gatherings in Victoria.

Organisers of the fourth round, the Australian Sports Sedan Association attempted to reschedule the event for August 21-22 but were unable to do so.

The hunt for another date also did not come to fruition, and for this reason the fourth round has been officially cancelled.

David Vernall, the secretary of the Victorian State Race Series released a statement confirming the disappointing news.

“The Victorian State Race Series Inc in conjunction with the Australian Sports Sedan Association (Victoria) must inform you that the attempt to reschedule the race meeting has been unsuccessful,” he wrote.

“We regret that the best effort of all concerned have been to no avail and the race meeting has been cancelled.

“The VSRS Inc would like to thank the Sports Sedan Association for their efforts to make this meeting happen.

“Melbourne Racing Club via their Manager, Brendan Stuart, have been extremely cooperative and are as disappointed as we all are.”

This means that only one round remains, the season finale as always at the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit which takes place in the last weekend of September.

“We now look forward to Round five at Phillip Island on the 25/26th of September conducted by the Victorian Mini Club,” Vernall said.
