SUPERCARS ALL STARS ESERIES TO RETURN

By Bruce Williams

The Supercars Eseries will return in 2021 with a second category added for Supercars and Super2 drivers.

This year’s iteration will consist of a six-round Eseries, starting on September 15 and running through till November 24. Events will be held fortnightly on the iRacing platform.

There will be two separate divisions of competition this season. The first is an ‘All Stars Championship’ including Supercars and Super2 drivers.

The second will be the ‘Pro Series’, filled with professional gamers representing Supercars teams. The top prize for the Pro Series will be more than $20,000.

All the action will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506, Kayo, 7Plus and streamed on Supercars’ Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube channels.

This information was confirmed in a series reveal video which was released on Friday morning.

The Supercars Eseries and Esports have gained popularity in recent times, amongst the cancellation and alteration of other sporting events. Drivers from all categories of racing have participated in the past, from F1 to NASCAR.

General Manager of Commercial at Supercars Jamie Black was proud of the impact of Supercars Eseries last year and looking forward to improving upon it in this coming version.

“The 2020 season was recognised as the number one Australian sports Eseries, with the highest reach and most extensive broadcast exposure,” said Black.

Dayne Warren won the 2020 championship for Mobil 1 Middy’s Racing in a Holden Commodore ZB, ahead of Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Josh Rogers in a tight finish.

Rogers was the standout throughout the majority of the season, taking home eight race victories all up. However, a last round boilover at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and Interlagos courses produced an upset champion in Warren.

The two went home with $10,000 and $7500 apiece.

Triple Eight driver and current Supercars leader Shane van Gisbergen also had some success on the screen, winning Race 12 at Charlotte Motor Speedway last series.

Erebus driver Brodie Kostecki and Zane Goddard of Matt Stone Racing represented the other Supercars talent in the 2020 edition.
