After much speculation during the offseason, the future of both James Courtney and Team Sydney appeared to be locked in at the season-opening Adelaide 500 with the revamped TEKNO Autosports squad arriving with two cars as initially announced at Bathurst.

Courtney even benefited from late additional sponsorship from Boost Mobile after initially launching his car in iconic Coke colours.

However, a short statement has been issued today by Courtney outlining his immediate departure from the team, which you can be read below:

Supercars driver James Courtney has elected to depart Team Sydney, effective immediately.

“We have not been able to agree on the way forward, so I have decided to depart the team. I wish Team Sydney all the best for the future,” Courtney said.

Courtney has no alternative arrangements in place and cannot comment on his future at this time.

Team Sydney are yet to comment on the matter.
