Australian Matt Campbell has been promoted to a full works Porsche factory driver for the 2020 season.

By RHYS VANDERSYDE

The announcement was made as the brand confirmed its driver line-up for next year at the annual Porsche Night of Champions motorsport gala at Weissach in Stuttgart, Germany.

Campbell, as well as Frenchman Mathieu Jaminet, will step up to full factory driver status in place of the two longest-serving Porsche works drivers Jorg Bergmeister and Timo Bernhard who move onto new roles as brand ambassadors.

Following his win as part of the Earl Bamber Motorsport driver line-up at the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour, The 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Champion will once again compete in the Intercontinental GT Challenge in 2020 as well as select events as part of the North American IMSA WeatherTech Championship where the new 911 RSR will make its debut at Daytona in January.

Also of note was the confirmation that 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Champion, Jaxon Evans, had earned himself a second season as a Porsche Junior to compete in the 2020 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

It was also confirmed that former Supercars racer Simona de Silvestro would expand on her new role as a Formula E testing and development driver for Porsche with an ADAC GT Masters campaign as well.
