The prestigious Professional Motorsport World Expo Awards has awarded The Bend Motorsport Park the Motorsport Facility of the Year prize overnight at the PMW Expo Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner.

The awards ceremony held at the Koln Messe in Cologne, Germany is judged by 23 leading motor sport experts (including Auto Action’s own Bruce Newton) and is the first time an Australian venue has been recognised. The Bend joins past award winners including the Sochi Aerodrome in Russia and the Circuit de la Sathe in France, which plays host to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“This is by a country mile the biggest accolade we have received so far,” said managing director, The Bend Motorsport Park Sam Shahin.

“It is a phenomenal achievement, considering the last winners were in 2018 Donington Park in the UK, and before that the The Circuit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, the F1 facility Sochi Autodrom in Russia and the Audi Competence Center Motorsport in Germany.’’

Last year, the circuit was awarded the Major Event of the Year at the South Australian Sport Awards for the OTR SuperSprint.

Development at the circuit is set to continue with the addition of a Group 1 dragway and light craft air strip to be completed by early 2021.
