Kelly Racing is the latest beneficiary of an aerodynamic parity adjustment, just in time for next week’s Bathurst 1000.

Supercars has approved changes to the rear deck of the Nissan Altima, four of which are run exclusively by KR.

From Bathurst, the Altimas will get an outboard extension to the boot lid and an extended gurney across the boot area below the rear wing.

The concessions are aimed at increasing the Altima’s rear downforce and to bring it into line with the Holden Commodore, which received an aero upgrade at Pukekohe last month, and the pacesetting Ford Mustang.

It is the seventh parity alteration this season – a series of changes triggered by the Mustang’s aero and weight distribution advantages.

Supercars’ technical department approved the aero adjustment to the Altima following a post-Pukekohe application by Kelly Racing, the former factory squad that is the homologation Nissan homologation team.

“Upon assessing the application and the information supplied, the Technical Department approved the submission as the delegated authority of the Supercars Commission,” Supercars head of motorsport Adrian Burgess said. “This adjustment will be in effect from the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 onwards.
