Supercars and Australian Racing Group (ARG) will go head to head for the potential fifth event at Mount Panorama.

Following the initial expressions of interest process which saw six organisations lodge applications back in March, Bathurst Regional Council has invited both Supercars and ARG to take part in a selective tender process for a potential fifth event at the iconic circuit.

Details of this tender process are expected to be finalised by the end of this month with Council to considering the tendered options in September.

“Council is currently finalising the tender specification and we expect the two companies invited to take part in that process will receive those documents before the end of the month. We anticipate Council will consider these tenders in September.” read a statement from the council.

ARG who now promote the local TCR Series’ in Australia and New Zealand are believed to have pitched an event aimed at bringing the global WTCR Series to Australia.

While the Supercars, who already promote the Bathurst 1000 and Bathurst 12 Hour, have confirmed that they planning something different for Mount Panorama.

The announcement also confirms that AASA associated Mountain Motorsports pitch for a Targa styled event is now out of the running.
