PORSCHES PRACTICED as the rest of the BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown Support categories qualified on the Hidden Valley circuit today.

PORSCHE PAYCE CARRERA CUP AUSTRALIA

SONIC MOTOR Racing’s Dale Wood and Jordan Love filled the first two spots in practice for round four. Last year’ Darwin polesitter David Wall was third, with Sonic’s third driver Michael Almond fourth overall.

Wood’s 1min 07.4912s flyer came late in the second practice session as several teams bolted on new Michelin tyres. He was 0.2s with David Wall third overall based on his time set in practice one.

Behind the top four was Cameron Hill, Nick McBride, Territorian Thomas Maxwell, Steve Richards and Cooper Murray.

Adrian Flack was fastest of the TAG Heuer Pro-Am drivers in both sessions and tenth outright. Roger Lago was second in the class with Dean Cook and Anthony Gilbertson next.

FOLLOWING THROUGH after topping practice, Justin Ruggier (Mustang) was also fastest in qualifying for the third round of the Aussie Racing Cars Championship Series. For much of the session Kel Treseder (Camaro) held second until Joel Heinrich (Altima) waited until late to just nabbed the place away.

Next was Blake Sciberras (Mustang) from Paul Morris (Altima), Josh Anderson (Camaro) and Craig Woods who only did three laps before being sidelined with failed coil pack in his Mustang. Leigh Bowler (Camaro), Tony Quinn (Mustang) and Reece Chapman (Camaro) rounded out the top ten.

Charlotte Poynting parked early, her Mustang not feeling right after going into a tyre wall in practice. Brad Woods (Camaro) pulled off the circuit near the end and when Ian Chivas (Altima) went straight on at turn five with a broken tailshaft, the red flags were out.

LEAVING HIS run to late in the session, Ray Hislop slotted his Ford Falcon BF on pole for the first of the combined categories races tomorrow.

The Tasmanian eclipsed the previous best set in the session by John Callegari (Holden Commodore VN) who maintained second spot ahead of Mazda drivers Tim Playford (808) and Zak Hudson (RX7).

Next were Rodney Jessop (Commodore VZ) and Keven Stoopman (Mitsubishi EVO 7) ahead of Robert Braune (BMW E30) and the best of the Under 2.0-litre drivers, Peter Cusato in his Ford Escort.

Steve Johnstone was ninth best before bringing the session to a premature closure (by around two and a half minutes) when he bunkered his Commodore. Next to him on the grid will be Adam Uebergang (Mazda RX3) ahead of Bryce Fullwood in the quickest of the Commodore Cup cars.

NEW SOUTH WALES driver Jake Harrison will start the first of four races from pole position after setting the fastest time in qualifying. He was just over half second quicker than WA’s Adam Butler before Shaun Boland (NSW) snuck into third position right as the session concluded.

That late time pushed the best of the locals in Marian Bujnowski to the outside of the second row ahead of Phil Aitken (Vic), Luke Harrison (NSW), Andrew Lorgelly (Vic), Peter Brown (Vic) and Gavin Thompson (NT) who had topped the practice session earlier. Victorian Tony Moloney was third fastest in first session of the day but only lapped once in qualifying before a gear selector dropped out.
