MORE ROUNDS, more venues and more prizemoney are the big changes to a refreshed 2019-20 World Series Sprintcars championship.

By GEOFF ROUNDS

The 15-round schedule is up from the 10 rounds of racing seen last season but will slot into the same timeframe. WSS bosses have swung in more actual race nights and three five-round swings for Australia’s most pre-eminent series.

Murray Bridge Speedway will again kick-start the hugely popular Speedweek with a two-night $20,000 opener on Boxing Day and concludes at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool on January 1, 2020.

The 32nd WSS tour heads north to Brisbane and Toowoomba then even further north to Maryborough for the first time and push back down south to the famous Lismore Speedway, also debuting in the famous tournament.

WSS takes a break from January 14 where many teams head further south to the 48th running of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Warrnambool on January 24 and onto the national championships in Latrobe, Tasmania from Jan 31.

An expanded Western Swing awaits teams across the outback Nullarbor with five rounds over two weeks from February 8 in Perth then its off south to Albany with Bunbury Speedway back in the WSS calendar.

“We know this is a calendar that will excite fans and racers alike, and we look forward to bringing you the best Sprintcar action in the country again next summer,” a WSS spokesperson said.

“Thanks to the 2018/19 venues for their ongoing support, with all returning to the fold next summer, and a big welcome to those who are either back on the calendar or hosting for the first time,” a WSS spokesperson said.

“A number of teams requested midweek rounds to assist with their logistical requirements, this has been accommodated for the 2019/20 series.”
