DRIVING FOR HMO Customer Racing, Will Brown drove his Hyundai i30N to victory in both of Sunday’s opening round races in the new carsales.com.au TCR Australia Series at Sydney Motorsport Park today.

In both races he had to chase down and pass Dylan O’Keeffe Garry Rogers Motorsport Alfa Romeo Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde) who ultimately was second in both races, and for the round.

Third overall went to Tony D’Alberto (Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R FK8) who backed up his second in race one with a third and sixth.

Race one winner Jason Bright (Alliance Autosport Jason Bright (Volkswagen Golf GTi) couldn’t emulate his great lift-off and finished fourth in race two before slipping to seventh in race three for an overall fourth.

Kelly Racing’s Andre Heimgartner (Subaru WRX STi) was fifth in race two and was challenging for the lead in the third race after a sizzling start. Ultimately, he was a retiree, off the track at turn 9.

Race two had one safety car to recover the stranded Chris Pither GRM Renault Megane while the last race also had a safety car, just after the start. GRM’s Jimmy Vernon (Alfa) stalled at the start and was hit by Dutchman Rik Breukers’ Melbourne Performance Centre Audi RS3.

Michael Almond (Garth Walden Racing i30N) started last in race two for a seventh-place finish, and then improved further to third in the last, ahead of Nathan Morcom (i30N) who would be docked 60s for incidents involving both Wall Racing Hondas.

As a result, MPC’s Aaron Cameron (Volkswagen) was elevated to fourth ahead of James Moffat in the second of the GRM Renaults.
