The multiple Australian Sprintcar champion will jet over to Charlotte to jump behind the wheel of the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 9 car to race in the World of Outlaws Patriot Nationals on May 23 and 24.
McFadden will replace Kahne, who is recovering from an injury sustained during a crash at Williams Grove earlier this season, until the 39-year-old is fit to race in his own car again.
The 29-year-old Monte Motorsport driver, who was planning time away from racing, will have his first race since sustaining a fracture in his T3 vertebrate in a WSS round in early 2019.
McFadden said he was excited to once again be racing in the highly competitive Sprintcar series, which also features current Knoxville Nationals winner Brad Sweet as his teammate.
“You’re racing the best in the world and the World of Outlaws is something you grow up wanting to race and it is the best you’ll ever race so hopefully we shape up well,” McFadden told Nine.
“I’m not going over to make up the numbers. It’s an awesome opportunity to race in outlaw-style rides and in the best equipment, with a good crew I can’t see why we can’t do well.”
