2017-18 Formula E Champion, Jean-Eric Vergne has scored his first victory of the current season.

The Frenchman overcame a penalty scare after dropping too far behind the safety car before the restart to claim the win during the interrupted race in Sanya, China to become the sixth different winner in as many races.

Techeetah’s Vergne took the lead from Nissan’s Oliver Rowland just before the race was red flagged to allow the recovery of Alexander Sims’s stranded Andretti BMW with 12 minutes left in the race.

Vergne and Rowland battled hard for the lead after the restart, but a full course yellow on the final lap due to a collision between Robin Frijns (Virgin) unloading Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport) ensured the result.
