Kelly Racing has confirmed the Andre Heimgartner will continue with the team for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

The 23-year-old from New Zealand will once again drive the No. 7 Nissan Altima after taking it over from Todd Kelly who retired at the end of the 2017 season.

Heimgartner finished 17th in last years standings, ending the year with a flurry of results, including a top 10 shoot-out berth at his home race at Pukekohe Park, as well as two top 10 finishes at the Newcastle street race.

“It’s great to finally announce my return to Kelly Racing for 2019. I can’t wait to get into the new season,” said Heimgartner.

“We had some strong results at the end of last year and with the continual development of the Altima over the summer, I’m confident that we will be able to hit the ground running.”

The confirmation of Heimgartner leaves just one seat left at Kelly Racing to be confirmed, with rumours suggesting that Garry Jacobson will replace the Tickford bound Michael Caruso.

“Andre has developed into a great asset for our team and we are excited to continue our journey with him,” said Todd Kelly. Team Owner.

“He has a natural born ability to drive race cars – fast and hungry. I’m confident that we are going to see the best of Andre this year.”

“The whole Kelly Racing team has barely stopped this off-season and, with the input of Andre and his No. 7 crew, there’s a positive vibe heading into the pre-season test at Phillip Island.”

Kelly Racing will run an interim livery at next weeks Supercars Test at Phillip Island before launching the look of the No. 7 Altima in the lead up to the season opening Adelaide 500.
