THE CAMS PAYCE Australian Formula 4 Championship had a mix of conditions in qualifying for rounds five and six at Winton Motor Raceway today.

In the first of the double-header grid deciders where track conditions were wet and slippery, Ryan Suhle (AGI Sport) took pole by almost three-tenths of a second, ahead of Team BRM’s Cameron Shields. AGI’s Jayden Ojeda, the points leader, and Aaron Love (BRM) are set to share the second row for the first of Saturday’s three races.

BRM teammates Lachlan Hughes and Josh Smith will start fifth and sixth ahead of Jackson Walls (Patrizicorse) and Thomas Smith (BRM), Zayd Tones (BRM), Ardie Jonic (AGI) and Antonio Astuti (Astuti Motorsport).

In the qualifying for round six (Sunday’s three races) conditions were dry, and times were significantly faster. Ojeda set the pace ahead of Shields until the session was red flagged, ahead by a bare 0.06s.

After the resumption Shields fired off a 2mins 2.333s flyer that couldn’t be matched. Ojeda went closest, missing out by 0.08s. Suhle was third fastest from Hughes, Love, Josh Smith, Walls, Tones, Tom Smith, Astuti and Jonic.

Also on the program for the fifth round of the Shannons Nationals is round five of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge which includes the final round of the Jim Richards Endurance series. The event has the final round of the GT Trophy Series and races for the Porsche 944 Challenge.
