Last year’s Australian F4 runner-up Liam Lawson has followed in the footsteps of Aussie Joey Mawson by taking a win in the ADAC F4 Championship.

The Kiwi driver avoided carnage in Race 1 at the Lausitzring to take victory as championship rival Lirim Zendeli retired. A collision between Ralf Schumacher’s son David and Belgian Charles Weerts instigated an eight-car incident, which forced the stoppage of the race.

The restart commenced with five minutes remaining with Zendeli leading until he suffered a technical issue leaving Lawson to take his first overseas victory.

Zendeli recovered in the second race to take a victory, but Lawson continued his strong form to finish behind the championship leader.

One race remains to complete the weekend.
