The 2019 edition of the Dakar Rally will be held entirely within Peru organisers have confirmed.

To be run between January 6th to 17th 2019, the 41st Dakar will be held across ten competitive stages with a single rest day that will complete a giant loop around the country of Peru. Starting and finishing in the capital of Lima.

It had been that suggested that the route for the 2019 running would also include Chile and Ecuador, however organisers unable to reach an agreement with either country to join Peru.

70% of the event will be held in the Peruvian sand dunes with a focus on more technical and difficult stages instead of the 400km marathon stages.
