Australian Formula Renault Eurocup driver Alex Peroni has suffered a mild concussion after being involved in an accident at the second round of the series at Monza.

After finishing fifth in the opening race of the weekend, Peroni was squeezed by Russian Aleksandr Smolyar, forcing the Tasmanian into the guardrail. Peroni then bounced back onto the circuit and was hit further by Axel Matus and Vladimir Tziortzis.

Peroni was taken to the trackside medical centre for checks and emerged okay. Smolyar will cop a four-place grid penalty at the next round.

Oscar Piastri also had a fraught round with a collision in Race 1 sending him into a spin, but he recovered to 12th. After surviving the early chaos in Race 2, Piastri had a gearbox sensor let go forcing him to park the car.

Thomas Maxwell had another great weekend scoring two points finishes to be narrowly out of the top 10 in 11th.

Silverstone will host the third round of the series on May 19-20.
