Scott McLaughlin will start Race 9 of the Supercars Championship at Phillip Island from Pole Position after setting a marker of 1m 29.5057s to pip teammate Fabian Coulthard by 0.1915s.

The next row is an all Red Bull Holden Racing Team affair as Jamie Whincup and Shane van Gisbergen start alongside each other, while Craig Lowndes delivered on the form he showed in yesterday’s Practice sessions by rounding out the top five.

Nissan had one representative in the top 10 with Rick Kelly starting alongside Lowndes in sixth and ahead of David Reynolds as the top 10 was rounded out by Chaz Mostert, lead rookie Anton De Pasquale and Cameron Waters.

A red flag was called after Michael Caruso had an oil pressure light turn on at the exit of Siberia, which forced him to stop. Even though he restarted, the flag had already appeared and he took no further part in the session.

This afternoon’s 57-lap race starts at 3:45pm AEST.
