MOTOGP – QATAR

Last years title combatants were straight back into it with a final lap thriller during the season-opening MotoGP round at Qatar’s Losail International Circuit.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) beat Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) to the line by just 0.027s, after a last-ditch effort by the Honda rider to try to steal the win. Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) completed the podium.

Frenchman Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) shot off pole position to take the lead into the first corner holding onto the position until Dovizioso and Marquez made their move on the 18th lap.

Aussie Jack Miller finished in tenth in his competition debut with the Ducati Alma Pramac Racing squad.

Fellow Aussie Remy Gardner finished the supporting Moto2 race in 12th in his second season with the Tech3 team.

FORMULA E

Jean-Eric Vergne has extended his lead in the Formula E championship winning the sixth round in Uruguay over the weekend.
