Erebus Motorsport has announced that they have signed Will Brown to its driver line-up for the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

The 2017 Mike Kable Young Gun Award winner made an impressive debut in the Dunlop Super2 series last year, scoring top-six finishes in five of the season’s first six races.

He narrowly missed out on his first win Sunday of Newcastle after leading the race until suffering a mechanical failure in the final stages.

“I’m super excited, obviously to get a co-drive, start my first Bathurst 1000 and make my main series debut is pretty cool,” Brown said.

Brown has secured a seat after just one year in a Supercar and quicker than most his peers, and attributes it to his time in the feeder series’.

A busy 2016 saw him win the Australian Formula 4 Championship and Toyota 86 Racing Series, as well as finishing second in the Australian Formula Ford Series.

“In 2016 I raced three categories, so it probably put three years into one,” he said.

“I stepped up into Super2 and did a good job, but I think doing so many categories over the last few years, and being able to adapt between different cars has helped me to jump into a Supercar and do a good job.”

Brown won’t be slowing down this season, with a Bathurst 12-Hour drive and possible GT racing added to his already existing calendar.

“I think that will be an advantage, there are co-drivers that drive nothing all year and put the helmet on, so I should be race ready.”

The 19-year-old finished 5th in the Bathurst 250 last October in what was his first trip to the Mountain in a Supercar, giving Erebus Motorsport’s General Manager of Motorsport, Barry Ryan, even more confidence he can do the job.

“Will has been a real stand out talent in the recent years and particularly in his rookie Super2 season in 2017,” Ryan said.

“We are very pleased to sign Will to drive his maiden Enduro Cup; he displays maturity above his years both on and off track.

“We look forward to seeing his driving talents first hand and being part of his development and growth.”

Brown will get his first taste of the team’s ZB Commodore next month, when he joins them for their first test day.
