DANIEL RICCIARDO TOPS SINGAPORE PRACTICE
Daniel Riccardo has set the pace leading into this weekends Singapore Grand Prix by topping both of Friday’s practice sessions.
The Australian justified sacrificing the previous race at Imola with engine penalties, setting the fastest time in both FP1 and FP2, ending the day fastest with a clear half second advantage over Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen who clipped the wall pushing the limits looking for track time.
Mercedes ended the day third and fourth fastest, with Lewis Hamilton holding the advantage over the recently re-signed Valtteri Bottas.
McLaren, who confirmed their switch to Renault engines overnight, had both their cars in the top ten. Stoffel Vandoorne was sixth fastest behind the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg, while Fernando Alonso ended the day seventh fastest.
Ferrari struggled in FP2, Kimi Raikkonen was the best of their drivers in ninth. Sebastian Vettel had been matching the pace of Riccardo of FP1, but could only manage the 11th fastest time in FP2 after he made contact with a advertising board triggering a virtual safety car in the session.
